​Visiting Patients 

Visiting Hours

Visitors can be good medicine for patients. Family members and friends are welcome to visit. In order to maintain a safe, comfortable healing environment, the following visiting guidelines have been established:

Visitors must dress appropriately (shirts and shoes are required).

Children should always be accompanied by an adult.

Be quiet to respect those patients who are resting.

Visiting After Hours

Please enter the hospital through the Emergency Department when visiting late at night and early in the morning. 

All visitors should check in at the security desk, located in the Emergency Department lobby, to receive a visitors pass. 


Gift Shop Hours

Our Gift Shop is open Monday through Friday, 9 am until 5 pm. The Gift Shop will be open on weekend afternoons as volunteers are available. These hours may change due to availability of volunteer staff. The Gift Shop offers a wide variety of items including flowers, slippers, various gifts, toiletries and much more!​


Prairie View Café​

The Prairie View Café is open to the public daily with hot meal service available from 6:30 am until 7 pm.​

Dining on Call

Dining on call provides freshly prepared meals to our patients delivered within 45 minutes of the request. Orders may be placed from any internal phone by calling 38050 or from an outside line at 608-373-8050.​

Garden Bistro

The Garden Bistro is located at SSM Health Dean Medical Group and  offers coffee and pastries from 7 am until noon, Monday through Friday.

Guest Dining

Visitors are welcome to dine with patients in their rooms. Food can be purchased from the Prairie View Café, vending machines or brought in from home.   ​​​

Health Resource Center

The Health Resource Center has computers and reference materials for anyone, patients and visitors, to use. The Resource​ Center librarian is available from 7:30 to 11:30 am, Monday through Friday to assist with equipment, conduct health-related searches and answer any questions you may have.
