Cancer Treatment Methods
There are several steps involved in cancer diagnosis and treatment. We offer comprehensive cancer care and the expertise to treat every type of cancer.
Surgeons play an important role in the diagnosis of cancer. They partially or totally remove cancerous tumors in the body.
Medical oncology is the use of chemotherapy, and other drugs that travel through the bloodstream to destroy cancer cells.
Radiation oncology is the use of high-energy X-rays to stop cancer cells from growing. Radiation therapy can be used as a primary treatment for cancer or in conjunction with surgery or chemotherapy, or both. Radiation therapy often is used to treat cancer after surgery to destroy any remaining cancer cells. Radiation also helps to lower the chances that the cancer will return or spread into nearby lymph nodes.
Radiation treatments are delivered by our state-of-the-art True Beam linear accelerator. It provides real time imaging during sessions to ensure precise treatment. The True Beam provides two treatment delivery methods: 2-D/3-D or Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IMRT). Our radiation oncologist will select the best method for you based on your treatment needs.
